Maximize Your Bodybuilding Efforts with the Right Supplements

Adding the right bodybuilding supplements to your diet is essential for maximising your muscle gaining program. In part one we talked about adding the first three vital supplements, whey protein, glutamine and ZMA to your nutritional plan. This was about laying the basic foundation for you to add some 'concrete walls', which we will discuss in this article where we are going to add creatine and leucine to your muscle mass building cocktail for the next month, then in month three we are going to add Arginine and 20-Beta Ecdysterone. Or putting the roof on those concrete walls, to build an all around tower of muscle - YOU!

Most bodybuilders and weight training enthusiasts have heard of creatine, if not tried it. But the problem with creatine is that most people do not know how to use it properly. So if you are already taking it today, STOP! Thats right, I want you to stop taking it for the time being, particularly if you've been taking it for a few months and you are not seeing the gains which you think you should be.

Creatine is a Cycle Supplement

What you need to remember about creatine, is that it is a 'cycle' supplement. This means that it is only really effective for short periods, not over months and months. But the problem I see with most guys in the gym is that they won't stop taking it, for fear of losing muscle mass which they gained when they first started supplementing with creatine.

Here is the secret to taking creatine. First off bodybuilders who stop taking it, won't notice much loss in the first month if at all, because once you stop supplementing it, your body naturally make more. Then after a month or so of no taking it, you should start once again. You will then notice a boost in size and strength.

Leucine is the Most Important Amino Acid for Protein Synthesis

Secondly in month two, you should take leucine. Scientific research has suggested that leucine is the most important out of all amino's to aid protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is the way your muscles generate more protein cells. And since muscle is basically made up protein, its a good idea to help with this process, don't you agree? So start adding a leucine supplement to your whey protein shake, before and after your workouts and you will further boost your muscle mass and increase your strength.

So in the third month, we are going to give your muscles a real 'NOS' boost! Well, nearly. We are going to add Arginine to your new supplement regime. This amino acid plays a vital role in your body. It works by widening the blood vessels, which means the blood will flow easier and quicker, making for a more efficient delivery of nutrients into your muscles. When you take this prior to your weights workout, you will get an even bigger pump - nice bonus, yes? When taken at higher doses, arginine also boost growth hormone levels in your body.

Finally in this third part of your new supplement program, we add the next boost to your systems protein synthesis. We are going to add 20 Beta Ecdysterone. It has incredible anabolic properties and works by further boosting, like leucine, the production of muscle cells.  Take 2mg per pound of bodyweight, so say if you weigh in at two hundred pounds, a 400mg dose for the day is what you need to aim for. Take it throughout the day, with a meal because it works better taken with food.
